Educate, Entertain and Inform Generations to Come!

The Sitka Historical Society needs your help! With the new Sitka History Museum set to open in Fall 2017, the Society is undertaking its first Capital Campaign in 60 years of operation.  Your donation will help us design and construct exhibits which tell Sitka’s stories, a modern collections storage facility, and a publicly-accessible research room.

Donate Today

The Sitka Historical Society and Museum has long endeavored to preserve and promote the events, stories, and artifacts of the human history of Sitka.  With the new Sitka History Museum opening in Fall 2017, the Society has committed to continually improve its efforts to educate future generations through dynamic exhibits that impart rich and varied interpretations of the past for a multifaceted view of Sitka’s history.

The Sitka History Museum strives to develop learning opportunities that explore the different perspectives of those who settled our area first, as well as, of those who are here today. The Sitka History Museum will enable future generations to learn from the successes and failures of the past while commemorating the contributions of those who shaped one of Alaska’s most beautiful places.

We Need Your Help to Design and Construct Exemplary Exhibits in the Sitka History Museum

With all the progress already made, the Sitka History Museum is still a long ways from opening its doors in 2017 and we need your help!  The Society is seeking funds to support the design, development, and construction of an interactive permanent exhibit, the debuting temporary exhibit, a modern collections storage facility, and a technologically-outfitted public research room.

Donor Levels and Benefits

The Sitka Historical Society offers a variety of donor levels to accommodate our generous supporters.  Because the Sitka Historical Society values the importance of your support, all benefactors who donate more than $500 will be recognized during the Sitka History Museum’s formal grand opening in 2017.  In addition, donor’s names will be publicly displayed in the completed Museum space at the donor levels noted below. Thank you, once again, for taking your place to insure Sitka’s history and its people’s stories will be preserved. You will have earned long lasting public recognition and gratitude for your generosity and community spirit.

The Sitka Historical Society is now accepting offers from prospective major donors who wish to explore giving large donations to fund exhibit design and construction in the new Sitka History Museum with the expectation that their names will be prominently displayed and associated with a specified area in the museum.
